Morning in New Delhi – Part 1

Woken Up by Honking and Temple Sounds

This isn't just an India thing—Vietnam had it too—but once again, I woke up to the sound of honking in the morning. On top of that, there was a temple nearby, and the clanging of bells and beating of drums echoed through the streets, gently (and loudly) waking me up.

Part of me wanted to sleep a bit longer, but instead of lazing around, I was grateful to start the day with such vibrant local sounds.

Strolling Around

I wandered through the nearby streets, hoping to stumble upon a good breakfast spot.
Even last night, I thought the streets were quite dirty—but now that the sun's up, the chaos and mess are even more visible.

This is India! This is New Delhi!

Found a Breakfast Spot

While soaking in the chaotic morning atmosphere, I walked into a small place that caught my eye and ordered ALOO PARANTHA.

What is ALOO PARANTHA?

Aloo Paratha is a classic North Indian breakfast.
It’s a flatbread made from whole wheat dough, stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes, and cooked on a griddle until crispy. It’s usually served with yogurt and achar (Indian pickles).

It looked much simpler than the menu photo—but hey, the taste was simple and satisfying. I liked it!

On the Hunt for Morning Chai

When in India, you’ve got to try chai!
Having chai after breakfast was one of the things I was looking forward to on this trip.

As I wandered out of the restaurant, I spotted a no-frills chai stand—just chai, nothing else. It was packed with locals, so I figured this place must be good. Of course, I had to try it.

It was absolutely delicious.
The cup was tiny, but I could easily have had two or three more.

And just like that, I had a perfect New Delhi morning filled with delicious food and local flavor.
